Buying A Home With A Pool - Get An Inspection

Recently I sold a beautiful home with a georgeous swimming pool.  The yard surrounding the pool was beautifully landscaped and it was like an oaisis away from the hustle an bustle of everyday life. I love to swim and have always wanted a pool in my backyard.

Prior to putting the house on the market, the sellers got a pool inspection to make sure everything was in order.  The pool inspector looked at the pool surface, pool decking, pool equiptment, and safety issues surrounding the pool.  I was suprised at how many "safety issues" were addressed - not just the mechanics part of it.  The buyer also had the pool inspected and any items that weren't in order were corrected by the seller.

Every client I have had who purchased a home with a pool has LOVED it. Many had small children and initially had safety concerns. Interested in a pool in your backyard but are afraid of safety issues, Click here to view an article about pool safety.  Everyone has said the pool was easy to maintain (especially the ones who hired a pool service!).

If you would like help finding a house with a pool, give me a call.  There are some beautiful pools out there and I would love to help you find just the right home for your swimming pleasure.

In the mean time - Stay Cool.

Buying A Home - Save Gas

In Birmingham we get those hot days with the temperature inversion that holds in the humidity and smog.  I am out in it every day looking at Homes for Sale in the Hoover Alabama area. Then we see the signs over the freeway that tell us not to drive unless it is necessary.  On these days your eyes burn and your sinuses flair up; it's really hot and you are just plain miserable.  In the 1960's the pollution was bad because of the industrial plants.  We still have some of those today (thank goodness for the EPA), but a lot of what causes the problem today is exhaust from vehicles.  How can we cut down?  There are a lot of simple ways out there.  First, organize your trips so you travel the fewest possible miles in a day.  DON'T let your kids sit in the car with the A/C running while you go into the grocery store.  Don't go through drive through lines with the car running, carpool whenever possible, and we can go on and on about being personally responsible for the amount of pollution we are putting into the air with our everyday actions.

One thing we CAN all do is look at the vehicle we drive.  SUVs are popular right now.  Many realtors in Hoover Alabama drive them because they have a lot of room.  Did you know that the emissions on SUVs are the same as trucks (which means they do NOT have the same emission standards as regular cars) and therefore pollute the air more.  If you are thinking about trading in that SUV because of gas mileage (with gas prices now over $4 a gallon) trading to a car will also improve your contribution to smog.

Thinking about a hybrid car?  There has been a lot of talk about them lately.  Many even offer tax credits when you purchase a hybrid (that is a CREDIT, not a deduction).  The tax credit you get on some cars could pay for gas for several months.  The credit is based upon which car you buy and only the first 60,000 sold by each manufacturer will receive a credit.  Click here to read more about the credit.

We can all help the air quality if we each look for ways to contribute.  I'm out Selling Homes in Hoover, Alabama and HAVE TO drive to get my job done but I do consider every trip I make.

Save gas and contribute to cleaner air by shopping for Homes for Sale in Hoover Alabama on the internet.  Once you've chosen the homes you would like to see, give me a call, we'll get together and make a house hunting trip that is as fuel efficient as possible.  In the meantime, drive safely.
